🚨 Fraud Alert – Counterfeit £20 Notes Used 🚨

We are advising residents of two recent fraud incidents in the area of Cotes Heath and Derrington.

On both occasions, a male arranged to purchase an Apple MacBook from sellers at their home address. Payment was made using counterfeit £20 notes. The suspect arrived and left by car in both cases.

👮 Police are investigating and enquiries are ongoing.

💷 How to check if a £20 note is genuine:

✅ Polymer feel – smooth, thin plastic texture

✅ See-through window with detailed design

✅ Hologram changes between “Twenty” and “Pounds” when tilted

✅ Metallic foil patches that shine and change

✅ Raised print on “Bank of England”

✅ Sharp, clear print and serial numbers

❗ If you are unsure, do not accept the note.

🔒 Crime Prevention Advice:

Avoid accepting cash for high-value items

Meet in a safe, public location where possible

Consider bank transfer or secure payments

Be cautious of buyers who rush transactions
